Whether you’re training for a marathon or chasing a baby around, we need our bodies to function as seamlessly as possible. Throughout my career I have discovered a few principles that I know to be true not only as a doctor, but also as an athlete.
- The body performs in a cascade of events that all start with proper control by the nervous system. The nerves that travel through and control every function of your body originate at the spinal cord and their transmission may be disrupted if the joints of the surrounding spinal column are not moving properly. As an athlete, to perform at peak performance, I need all of my joins and nerves firing as they should!
- Improving joint mobility through chiropractic adjustments, tissue mobility practices, and core exercises will help reduce compression forces, enhance mobility, and allow people to live with less pain and limitations in their sport. We need mobile joints to move well throughout our day to day lives, so we especially need them when we are athletes in training.
- Athletes who do not strengthen in length and mobility have a higher risk of spinal degeneration and pain due to impact, prolonged posturing, or sport specific repetitive motions creating imbalances. By receiving frequent adjustments, you are able to keep your body functioning as it should.
