How Chiropractic Care Can Benefit Your Health
So far, millions of Americans haven’t only found relief from back pain—they have also found a pathway to health through chiropractic care’s organic, drug-free approach to health care.
Your spinal column, composed of 24 independent vertebrae, is what allows your body to move, twist, and bend through each movement of your hectic day. It encases and protects the delicate nervous system which coordinates and controls organ, tissue and every muscle of the body. That is why we think the first step to an active lifestyle is a spine that is functioning.
When two or more vertebrae are not functioning together correctly, it’s exactly what many chiropractors refer to as a subluxation or a misalignment. These subluxations are dysfunctions which could enable you to experience pain, decreased mobility, distress, or many symptoms and ailments. Joint dysfunctions often go unnoticed and can lead to miscommunication between body and your brain.
Joint dysfunctions in the backbone may eventually lead to symptoms in different components or joints of the human body also. These symptoms are your body’s only way of allowing you to know something isn’t right. The lack of pain isn’t a sign of health. From the time symptoms and pain appear the problem may have been present. The wonderful news is that you can help prevent these kinds of ailments and symptoms with care that is regular.
Benefits of regular chiropractic care might include any of the following:
- Improved Nerve Communication from the Body
- Improved Joint Motion and Coordination
- Improved Physical Function and Performance
- Improved Posture
- Relief from Back and Neck Pain
- Relief from Leg, Knee, Foot and Ankle Pain
- Relief from Arm, Wrist, Shoulders or Elbow Pain
- Relief from Stress and Tension Disorders
- Relief from Joint Discomfort
- Relief from Bursitis
- Relief from Arthritis
- Relief from Chronic Injuries

The 3 Stages of Care
Chiropractic care isn’t easy a one-size-fits-all plan. Your Drs. Chris and Krystal will customize your plan of care to suit exactly what you need. There are typically three phases of care:
Relief: If you’re having aches, pains and or decreased range of movement, licensed chiropractors will work to identify the origin of the matter and eliminate joint limitations, also called subluxations. Subluxations can get from the brain to the body leading to discomfort and pain in the way of nerve communication. Drs. Hohn may recommend visits weekly, for two to four weeks, or until the pain is decreased, while seeking relief. They may also recommend like icing home therapies.
Recovery: Just because discomfort and pain start to subside does not mean you should stop receiving care. Other tissue damage and muscle may be present although the signs of pain are gone. Recovery care functions to encourage the body’s capacity to heal itself by maintaining communication. During recovery, your Drs. Hohn may recommend strengthening exercises to work on at home in addition to visiting one or two times weekly.
Wellness: You’ve heard the phrase “no pain, no gain,” right? Well, chiropractic is somewhat different. When you’re not currently experiencing distress or pain, you can benefit from maintenance. It can function as an early detection system for issues while chiropractic can help improve well-being and health.
Once you’ve found relief and also have completely recovered, Pure Health Clinic will typically recommend maintenance visits together with a balanced diet and exercise regimen.
Does It Hurt?
Chiropractic is the largest, noninvasive, drugless and safest forms of health care available. Patient risk is lower when receiving care instead of medical care, where a risk is posed by the usage of prescription medication and surgery. Chiropractic adjustment is a process because pressure and force are used that causes distress. Most patients feel relief immediately.
Any reported soreness after a first modification was described as similar to that associated with beginning a new exercise program. Using an ice pack, drinking loads of water, and engaging in light stretching after your visit can help alleviate any discomfort. The popping noises you hear are the joints releasing pockets of gases. A chiropractic adjustment doesn’t affect either side of the joint’s bones, but rather.
How Long Does It Take?
This is all dependent on the duration and severity of your condition, but most first visits may last up to 30 minutes. Visits are less. At the end of your visit, Dr. Chris or Krystal will decide the best course of treatment. Just as visits to the dentist are essential for dental hygiene, visits to a chiropractor for spinal function and health care are important.
